I keep breaking up with OLW (for some reason I want to call it OWL though…One Word, Little?). I once lasted two whole years, with the same word. We have a shaky relationship though. Just one? And words, aren’t so little.
Perseverance. Create. Creativity. Be (add another word here and switch it out every month so you get TLWs-two little words). Three, like I wrote about here-and is a much better post than today’s-a quarter into 2016. Courage. Blank-this year’s word because it hasn’t found me. Yet.
But this OLW, OWL, whatever, is like finding the one. Lipstick. Spouse. Wedding dress. Dog. Car. House. Vacation destination. It takes time. It takes perseverance. Patience. Creativity. Listening, which I’m not good at doing, not one bit. I like to think I find it, but it finds me. Hello, OWL, OLW, where are you?
Or should we just split up this year?

Thanks, Vivian. I had heard about it several years ago (2016 when I tried to find one-the post I linked). That fall, our principal gave us all a copy of the book that started it all. I should re-read it, but who knows where I put it? Maybe the air fryer drawer, lol!

I have the same trouble with a few acronyms. Sometimes they make sense and other times they are just confusing. Each year I try to choose OLW but this year, i have yet to choose one. Last year I chose the word. “magic”. I believe it led me to lots of interesting choices. I think your word may find you yet.

I’ve never really found my OLW; they always seem to find me. Maybe do a Wordle using your writing from the past year and see what pops up. Mine was found while thinking about how my 2022 goals were the same as the past decade, and what needed to change to make them happen. If you are still up for finding OLW, make the search fun!

Chris, I this is a great idea! I’m still looking. I need to let (rather, force) myself stay still and quiet so I can see what happens. I’m optimistic though. We’ll see what turns up.
