Summer Moon Coffee's
1/4 Moon, hot
those jeans that go with
everything
and always fit
dress them up
dress them down
reliable
chilly air
between season
transitions
Babies,
all cuddly
and squishy
Childhood
no tantrums
no attitude
all fun
Teens
when they
have a good speak
with you day
Adult kids
stopping by
just because
contentment
enough ups
enough downs
to make appreciation
stick

You hit the target with your sweet spots slice. I especially appreciate “those jeans” and childhood “no tantrums, no attitude”. Though fleeting, sweet spots are the joys of life.

Yes they are. I wish we could save them for later.

Great poem, I’m glad you found it in your drafts, even though I don’t know what a summer moon coffee is, I can relate to all the rest! I love the descriptive stages of growing up, perfect… and the jeans.

The way you slide from one sweet spot into another really pulled me in. I’ve enjoyed reading and rereading this piece, catching new phrases of beauty each time.

Thank you, Natasha. I only need to revise a few things. I love it when a piece works itself out on its own like this one did.

A sweet, poetic gratitude list. The older I get, the more grateful I am for the simple pleasures, for family moments. Thanks for passing on an understanding smile.
