My car? a roomier version of a purse or backpack Front seat holds a stack of new books I've got first dibs, but only if I can't find kids who want to read them first
Folded windshield sunshades (needed all year in Texas) stuffed between said seat and console where there's a stack of empty gift cards a prayer card a green rosary S. made two years ago a work badge on a floral pink lanyard
On the back seat floorboard rests a recycled grocery tote bag full of recycled grocery tote bags another bag still holds black velvet flats a blue tulle skirt white tights a black satin sash black leather sneakers and a long, blonde wig from last month's comic con event
Somewhere underneath those bags is a black drawstring backpack donning a half marathon logo eight years past a rolled up yoga mat three pairs of sunglasses
In the way back sit three bags of outgrown clothes (mine) meant for a thrift store I pass every day on my way home remembering they're back there as I pass the light
It seems like this one post is full of other posts. I have so many questions about some of the items, especially the costume! A blonde wig? Seems like it could also lead to more posts– aren’t those clothing drop-offs procratinatable chores??? I totally relate!
Your car is the state of my whole house, ha! You’ve made a list that reads like a story, and tells us so much about your life and likes. I just got rid of the Book Day stuff we got at the August librarians’ meeting–passed it off to a PreK teacher two weeks ago. Now I just need to remember to carry in that box of donated books for giveaways that’s been sitting in my back seat for two months…
Your post made me think of how every morning, before I put my baby in her car seat, I tell myself, “Yes, this is what the back seats will look like for a while. All. The. Things.”
I currently have a small table that I repaired four days ago that I just can’t seem to walk into school. I walk back out at the end of the day, look at it and think, maybe tomorrow.
Fun prompt. I love Britt’s comment. My sister’s truck is like her second abode, full of everything she might need for any eventuality or daughter sports event.
I love the glimpse into your life, your personality that this slice gives. Now I’m thinking about what I could write about what I keep inside my own car. I love the idea of the car being a “roomier version of a purse or backpack”. It’s definitely true for me! And I love the ending–the thought to drop off the bags “tomorrow”–also so familiar!

My kids are older now so now it’s mainly my mess and that of my teen…which is a slice for another day.

I might have forgotten to add a few extra books, lol! I’m glad we’re out of the cracker crumbs between the seats stage.
