Tpyos

“Typos are very important to all written form. It gives the reader something to look for so they aren’t distracted by the total lack of content in your writing.”

–Randy K. Milholland

Tpyos bother me,
mostly when wen they're
my own mistake,
not anyone else's
although I do
notice them
in porfessional settings,
such as formal publications
online
in a book
an email form
someone important

I take a second look
how did it make it past
editors?
did anyone proofread?

I'm the type who usually
proofreads
most days
including fly
by the seat of
my pints
text messages
and yes,
I resend
revised messages

auto-correct
I HATE it!
Fixes words
that didn't need fixing
and changes the enteir
meaning
is there a name for that?

  1. I am more tolerant of others’ typos but not my own. I’ll even go back and edit a post on FB (sometimes days later) just to fix a typo I made…that was probably made by auto correct. Cute poem! 🙂

    1. I cringed writing the intentional ones, but found an authentic typo, ugg! I’m leaving it there. Not fixing it! (I’m still cringing).

  2. Such a thoroughly enjoyable slice (I feel as though I should mistype this but can’t!) I especially love your last verse about those ridiculous auto corrects, the ones that get sent before you had time to check, and then the receiver has already seen them!!!!

  3. Ohhhhh….mistakes are so much easier to look over when they’re mine! I suppose that bleeds over into life – after all, I’m a perfect driver, right?

And yes, I also correct my mistakes in texting. Maybe you think I’m weird, but I correct them differently based on who I’m texting with. I either send another text with the correct letter(s), or I go back and edit the original message.

    1. Lol! The scary part is when inappropriate words auto-populate for words far from the ones I intend to use. Might need to clean up my language a bit.
